Preparing lobster can sometimes be tricky. Lobster can be expensive and one wants to enjoy it the best way possible. However, there are several EASY ways to prepare this treat! Grilling lobster can be one of the easiest ways to prepare it and one of the tastiest. Here is how to grill lobster in 5 steps.
Keep in mind that fresh (live) lobsters taste the best. They should be cooked almost immediately after humanely killing them, unless they are frozen.
- If you purposed the lobsters live, then you need to make sure they are dead prior to grilling. Here are some tips on how to humanely kill a lobster.
- Grilling can cause a curve in the tail of the lobster. If you want to make sure the lobster stays flat you will need to skewer it. If that doesn't matter to you then you do not need to do this step.
- Heat your grill/charcoal to a medium-high heat.
- Brush olive oil on both sides of the lobster.
- Place lobster on the grill and cook until the shells turn bright red. The juice that comes out should be white and thick. This will take approximately 8-10 minutes depending on the size of the lobster and the heat of your grill.
After allowing the lobster to cool, serve with your choice of dipping sauces.
Helpful Tips and Tricks:
- A fresh/thawed lobster will take less time to cook than a frozen one.
- Also, lobsters that are being grilled do not need to be flipped over!
- A lobster is fully cooked when the internal temperature is 180 degrees F.
- Another way to determine if a lobster is full cooked is grabbing an antenna or small walking leg. If they can be easily removed then it fully cooked.
